In Memoriam
Kit-Kat, our checker-board calico, joined our family three years ago, when I found her at the pool I swam at. She had sought shelter there during a storm on Halloween night. She was the most laid back and beautiful calico cat, putting up with kids and dogs in our crazy zoo of a household. She brought great joy to our lives, from the night-time sleeping on our chests or pillows, to stalking us around corners, to bringing in a dead rat to delightfully pounce upon. She even talked to us -- little sounds in greeting and conversation-- and only ever meowed if her bowl was empty. She drove Michael crazy by wanting to sleep all over the study, sometimes even on the computers and keyboards. Her favorite spot was any recently vacated study chair. She also liked to sleep in the street and the driveway and wouldn't ever move to get out of the way if a car had to come. No, the driver had to move around Kit-Kat.

While the kids and I were on vacation in Colorado, our sweet Kit-Kat became severely ill at home. For days we hand-fed her, helped her drink, and gave her meds, but she just kept getting weaker and weaker. With great sadness, on Monday, July 30, 2007 we made the decision to put her to sleep so that she could rest.

I wish I had a better picture to post here of Kit-Kat. The best ones I had of her were lost when my computer crashed.

Kit-Kat, we love and miss you so much. Rest, little girl.
